LEGO’s PAC-MAN Arcade carries a lot of nostalgia. The Classic from 1980 unfolds its charm. The LEGO team has captured it wonderfully, with the cheerful color scheme that matches the original. The most important thing, however, is the bustling activity created by Pucks, Ghosts, Perks, and uncleared points. The mechanism to set Pucks and Ghosts in motion is ingeniously made, works great, is robust, and pleasant to build.

However, I also think that LEGO did cut corners a bit too much. Starting with the loveless stickers on the unlit and boringly designed point counters, the decision not to design the areas around the joystick with building techniques instead of simply putting stickers on, to the non-printed coin slot.

That’s a shame, and considering the price of 270 Euros, it remains a set that does a lot right but ultimately doesn’t do enough to be really good.
