Opinion

Gandalf is my highlight of the series! Originally, I thought that due to its simplicity, this Brickhead would not appeal to me as much. It is true that he does not have any prints, but he is well designed. The high forehead, in combination with the beard, gives him an intelligent, but also friendly appearance, which is true to Gandalf’s character.

One could argue that the tip of the hat is not a good design, but I can’t think of a better solution. I also really like his hair from the back.

The Balrog of Morgoth is also well done. It is large, or rather wide, fiery, and a little ugly. Exactly as a Balrog should be. The tail deviates nicely from the typical Brickhead design. I mean, we’re talking about a monster that was significantly larger than all humanoids in the film. That it is not larger than Gandalf here in the end, is fine with me, as they are both Maiar, so of the same species. This completes the Tolkien circle.
