LEGO’s new Temple of the Golden Idol is one of those sets that long-time fans of the brand have been eagerly waiting for. LEGO had not served the popular Indiana Jones franchise for 14 years.
The new set is actually a reissue of the Temple Escape from 2009. It shows how far the industry has come. Almost three times the piece count for the successor means finer building techniques, more functions, and a more detailed diorama.
I especially liked the nice play functions that can be easily operated with knobs and may provide entertaining distraction during a boring meeting in home office.
The minifigures are also great, although I prefer the smaller Escape from the Lost Tomb in this regard.
I was only bothered that the plaques are done with stickers instead of prints. That is annoying and hopefully LEGO won’t make that a habit.
Overall, an impressive set, unfortunately priced 30 Euros too high for my taste.
