Opinion
With the Old Fishing Boat, BlueBrixx has a vessel in its portfolio that fits quite well into the extensive harbor lineup of the manufacturer, ranging from the fantastic Astronomer lighthouse to all the MOCs (My Own Creations) from Roben Anne that were made sets.
This has worked well. The boat is wonderfully detailed, with amusing touches like the crab catcher and countless small items spread over the deck. The overloaded roof of the bridge also adds to the charm.
Certainly, many were pained that BlueBrixx did not give the ship a hull, like their recent Rescue Cruiser, but this way it is ready to sail into harbor dioramas. Here, Cobis’ concept of the Titanic would have been a solution: an executive edition with and a standard edition without a hull.
The quality of the pieces was decent enough. The fact that there were many color deviations may hurt in other sets, but it even added to the charm of this rustbucket.
