Opinion

The Medieval Armourer by BlueBrixx represents a new generation of the medieval series. On the one hand, we have a later medieval period in which the first firearms appear. Furthermore, we have a new expansion concept for the Blaustein Castle. Instead of a 5000-piece packet for direct continuation, this is now a smaller set for adding on.

The design itself cleverly incorporates elements from the Blaustein Castle - from the rock formations to the color scheme and building techniques. The latter is once again a small masterpiece. A beautiful SNOT (Studs Not On Top) construction and numerous details result in a cohesive design.

As could already be seen with the Medieval Bakery, designer Martin is increasingly successful in implementing these fine techniques without compromising on buildability. The Medieval Armourer is also suitable for beginners, and the instructions are flawless. However, the quality of the pieces is only mediocre.

Although the set is affordable, it is no longer an absolute bargain. The sets from the first wave, such as the Old water mill, are still available at the old price and are therefore more of a recommendation for beginners in the series.
