Opinion

The Fantasma Sports Car from CaDA, designed by Dugald Cameron, is by far the largest and most complex technical set I have ever built. Its complexity requires a high level of concentration, and discipline while building. Building blocks and functions are put together that will only be connected many hundreds of building steps later and as a result cannot be tested during construction. Correction at such a late stage is also hardly possible, which as a result may require hours of dismantling, backstepping the build process.

However, the effort is worth it. The Fantasma Sports Car is full of functions, with a complex mechanical design, impressive scissor doors, and switchable rear-wheel steering.

It is also visually quite nice for a Technic set, with a removable roof and an impressive size.

Overall, it is a great package, typical of CaDA’s high-quality presentation and piece quality. Substantial amounts of spare pieces are also included, and the price of the Fantasma is about half of LEGO’s recent Ferrari™ Daytona SP3.
