Cobi - Executive Edition MIG-29 Ghost of Kyiv | Set 5833

Bringing a MiG-29 to the market during these difficult times is certainly not easy. Cobi has taken on the challenge and released an Ukrainian Air-Force aircraft to the market. The set was also linked to a charity campaign, which I find commendable.

The model has also been very well done. Considering the short development time that the Cobi team had after Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine, it is downright phenomenal.

There are a few questionable design decisions, though, such as the nose and landing gear that tend to fall off, or an elevator that only hangs on two studs. But that’s nitpicking at a very high level, because the flowing shapes of the MiG-29 are fantastically represented. In addition, there are a lot of prints, no stickers, and a well-done pilot figure.

Whether you prefer the ailerons to be chunky brick-built like here or delicate prefabs like in the Osprey, is a matter of taste.

The quality of the pieces was excellent and the instructions are among the best in the industry. This special model Ghost of Kyiv is practically no longer available, but Cobi released a regular model a few months later.
