BlueBrixx’s Pirates Island: Brig is a real gem, but it requires strong nerves in one particular area.
First of all, the pirate ship is beautifully detailed and has the best proportions I’ve ever seen in such a ship. The construction is also wonderfully sturdy, which should make it a great playmate in any kid’s room. 11 cannons also ensures that children’s eyes light up. LEGO’s Pirate Ship with its two cannons looks really sad next to it.
The sails are also the best I’ve ever had with a brick-build ship. The pieces themselves are decent, although they are not not winning a price for beauty.
However, the technical pieces are a bit problematic. Building the masts was one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever built. The lack of fit required the use of a hammer, which is even more unpleasant than it sounds.
However, the great design and very good price make up for this low point.
