The Opel Manta A 1970 - Executive Edition is an essential part of German automotive history and was an important part of my childhood in the 80s. That’s why I was thrilled when Cobi was releasing a 1:12 model, especially since I consider the Maserati™ MC20 from this series to be one of the best Cobi sets ever made.

In general, the Manta is very appealing in design. The stand is brilliant, the seats are wonderfully authentic and bring back memories, and I particularly like the trunk. The prints are nice as well, but license Plates from Rüsselsheim would have been a nice addition.

Unfortunately, there are problems with the pieces though. The yellow Tiles and Slopes often fail to cover the underlying black. That looks pretty bad and should have been avoided. If the pieces cannot be improved, at least more yellow should have been used in multiple layers. Even better would have been a Manta in Sahara Gold!

Also, the Opel Manta A 1970 - Executive Edition cannot compete with the Maserati™ MC20 in terms of price. All of this is a shame because otherwise it is a nice set.
