Opinion
The Dune™ Atreides Royal Ornithopter from LEGO impressed me quite a bit. The design of the iconic vehicle was captured very well and should work for both fans of the 2021 film and nostalgic gamers and movie lovers from 80s and 90s.
I particularly liked how the design and appearance in minifigure scale were combined with cool play features. The necessary technic for this was surprisingly well hidden. The folding mechanism of the wings, the landing gear, and the cockpit are a lot of fun.
The minifigures are also very good, especially the Fremen suits. The Baron stands out a lot, but only looks really good with his cloak from very few angles.
Unfortunately, LEGO also used some blue, red and orange parts visibly on the otherwise black-dark gray hull.
What bothered me even more is that all the new wings were slightly warped. This causes them to hang down more on one side than the other.
At a retail price of 165 euros, this should not have happened. However, the otherwise really good design compensates for these two problems.
