Opinion
The LEGO Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter from 2019 is not to blame for being based on one of the worst movies in Star Wars history. However, it is to blame for the unfortunate price-performance ratio.
First, the positive aspects though: the design of the set with less than 600 pieces is neat, with lots of details, an impressive size, and a robustness that permits wild flight maneuvers. A set that looks good both in a showcase and in a kid’s room. The bomb mechanism is a lot of fun and would have also suited the UCS Y-Wing Starfighter.
The minifigures are exciting, with a fantastic Zorii Bliss, although she lacks a printed head, and it is nice to have a turquoise astromech to provide some variety. While the set does include stickers, they are not really necessary and can be overlooked.
All in all, the set is solid, but the original price of 70 euros was too high. In 2019, LEGO should have put more into the package for the money.
