Opinion
The Black Pearl II by Mould King is a colossal ship measuring almost 1.20 m in length and 70 cm in height. The hull is quite sturdy, and before rigging, I would even consider it child-friendly. However, the rigging itself needs to be knotted with several meters of cord, which poses a real challenge. Although not all of them are strictly necessary, and I have also omitted some details, many of the lines are needed to hold the masts and sails.
But even with the rigging, the delicate masts are quite wobbly. A more stable construction with more carbon fiber axles and anchoring in the hull would have been necessary.
The pieces are of good quality, the hull elements were individually packaged and have a nice shine. The remaining pieces have some micro-scratches, but it’s not too bad.
What I didn’t like are the proportions. I think the masts need an additional 30-40 cm in height to look authentic. Overall, the ship is too big for its own good.
